1920s Intercollegiate Debates Expand – Extensive Tours are Developed

Wake Forest Wants To Meet Speakers from Trinity and Davidson

Preparations are being made by the Debate Council of Wake Forest College for a more extensive schedule of debates for the 1921-22 season of the College than in any year in the past. There is a plan on foot for the arrangement a triangular debate between Wake Forest, Trinity and Davidson Colleges that will likely be realized and become an annual event between. the three intuitions. The Wake Forest Council is also is considering a series of debates between a number of the Southern Baptist colleges that participated in this form of collegiate activities. Among the colleges that are being included in this arrangement are Oklahoma Baptist University, Mercer University, Wake Forest, Baylor and others. The members of the Wake Forest. Council that have these arrangements in charge are J. R. Nelson, J. F Hoge, R. P. Dawes, R. S. Averitt, W.J. Mathews, and G. W. Blount.
In later 1920s the travel schedules become more extensive with Western/Eastern North/South, Alabama/Texas, South Carolina/Georgia tours.
